Onchain analytics platform Lookonchain flagged a wallet tied to Strategy on Aug. 5. The wallet moved 1,030 Bitcoin worth roughly $66.14 million.
The transfer came two days after Strategy confirmed a separate Bitcoin sale. That timing has drawn attention to the company’s shifting treasury approach.
Strategy has not said whether this latest move was a sale. Bitcoin can shift between wallets for many reasons, including custody changes or internal transfers.
Its most recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission listed holdings of 842,138 Bitcoin as of Aug. 2. That number had not changed as of this report.
Strategy’s Confirmed Bitcoin Sale
Strategy did confirm one sale this week. The company sold 1,638 Bitcoin between July 27 and Aug. 2, bringing in $104.73 million after fees.
That works out to an average price of $63,957 per coin. The figure is higher than earlier estimates that put the sale closer to $102.4 million.
Strategy split the proceeds two ways. It used $52.4 million for preferred stock dividends and $52.3 million to buy back its STRC preferred shares.
The company also repurchased 912,143 STRC shares separately for $81.2 million. Its total Bitcoin holdings cost $63.51 billion, averaging $75,419 per coin.
Strategy’s board approved a Bitcoin monetization framework in June. It allows sales to support cash reserves, cover dividends, or fund share buybacks.
The framework does not set a required sale amount. Strategy has now reported four Bitcoin sales in 2026, totaling 5,258 coins.
MARA’s Transfer to Two Prime
Lookonchain also reported that mining company MARA sent 6,000 Bitcoin, worth about $384.6 million, to Two Prime. The firm said this does not necessarily mean a sale took place.
MARA has worked with Two Prime before. In July 2025, MARA invested $20 million in the firm and expanded its managed Bitcoin allocation from 500 to 2,000 coins.
Two Prime handles institutional trading, lending, and yield strategies for clients. An SEC filing showed MARA’s earlier 2,000 Bitcoin account held 1,903 coins by Sept. 30 after a small trading loss.
MARA’s annual report says it may buy or sell Bitcoin based on market conditions. In June, MARA raised its holdings to 36,303 Bitcoin after selling 15,133 coins in March.
That March sale helped fund a $1 billion debt repurchase. The company’s Bitcoin strategy has shifted between accumulation and selective sales over the past year.
Bitcoin traded near $64,387 at the time of reporting, up about 0.95%. Strategy shares rose roughly 2.9% to $97.65, while MARA shares held steady at $11.75.
Both companies will need to file official updates before investors know if the recent transfers were sales. Strategy said it will disclose any material Bitcoin activity through Form 8-K filings and its public dashboard.
